Backstory (not known to Prometeo)
Prometeos bloodline (and with it, the shadow dragonmark tattoo on his
forehead) comes from the house Phiarlan (fee-AR-lan) in the plane of
Eberron. His grandfather (Varaendyr) was tasked to go
find out the secrets of Faerun and bring them back so that his house
could rise in ranks over the other houses of Eberron.
House Phiarlan used its secret connections to conjure magic to send
Prometeos grandfather through the multiverse into Faerun. During his
quest to infiltrate and study the powers of Faerun, he met a woman,
fell in love and had two offspring. Prometeos
father (Zinran Bunshinn Hugo Phiarlan the 2nd) and
his sister. (Prometeo has an aunt).
Prometeos grandfather was a secretive man and he passed down his quest
to both of his children without telling the whole
story or anything about Eberron. The quest was to document and gather
any and all information about Faerun and find sources of power that
could be harnessed for battle.
Unfortunately, during one of his information gathering journeys he was
killed and since he did not share any details on house Phiarlan nor
how they ever though to get him back to Eberron through magic, the
information about Prometeos family ties was lost.
During his studies, Prometeos grandfather found out that
Wild Magic and areas of
Dead Magic in Faerun, left from the
Time of Troubles, somehow disable or hinder the
functionality of the dragon mark, and if that could be harnessed, it
could potentially be used to fight the other houses of Eberron. So he
wanted to find out more about Wild Magic, Dead Magic Zones and the
Time of Troubles. This thirst for knowledge was passed down to
Prometeos father and from him, down to Prometeo
Backstory
Prometeo grew up in a loving family with his father and mother.
Prometeo was told he has an aunt, but met her only once (as a teen,
and that did not go well). His father was always out and he was mainly
raised by his mother. When prometeo came of age (around his 100th
birthday) his father told him about the quest passed on from his
grandfather. After that, Prometeo was taught in the Bardic ways of
College of Lore by his father, just as he was taught
by his father before him. Finding a new connection to his father after
being shared in this secretive quest, Prometeo also started to venture
out in distant places to gather information about sources of power,
with a special focus on Wild Magic and Dead Magic Zones.
During one of his information gathering trips, Prometeos father got on
the bad side of the wrong people, to make an example
of him, one night, when both his father and Prometeo were not home,
these people came to their house and brutally killed Prometeos mother.
Devastaded, when Prometeos father came home to a murdered wife, he
sought out a favor he was owed by a powerful being. This being was
able to bring his wife back to life once more.
Later, the effects of the resurrection seemed to slowly start to
reverse. Prometeos mother got ill and no remedy seemed to help her.
Investigating the cause, Prometeo and his father found out that all
resurrection spell targets were suffering from the same ailment. It
seemed as if resurrection magic was being cancelled throughout the
continent. That is when Prometeo stumbled upon a quest to find the
source of this curse..
